Chippie Church - Prayer Labyrinths and Pretzels

Saturday, March 9, 2013

Last nights Friday Chippie Church was a great if somewhat messy success.

Not only did we have fish and chips with all associated sauces and other chip shop delights but we also messed about with clay and did some baking.

Prayer Labyrinth

We made prayer labyrinths out of clay, a full size labyrinth walk is used to assist prayer and meditation. The walker slowly walks the labyrinth path quietly, often in prayer or focusing on a spiritual question. A labyrinth has only one path to the center, unlike a maze which has dead ends (Ok ours might have had a few dead ends). We looked at finger labyrinths, same principle but you follow it with your finger on a piece of paper. We used a lump of clay and made routes into it so that you could roll a marble around it.

Pretzels

We also had great fun making dough and turning it into pretzels which can remind us of arms crossed in prayer. They were yummy and a great treat during lent.

Chippie Church

Chippie Church is a light hearted event where everyone is welcome, you can take part in the crafts, games, chat, stuff your face with chips or do all of those things.

LAST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH: Good Friday - Easter activities, baking and crafts or just drink tea, eat fish & chips and discuss stuff!
